Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?

I made sure that there were shots of characters such as the close up before Ben gets sucked into the game to show his expression, this is about 1:34 - 1:39 in the video.
We made it so that it really gives off the impression that they were inside the game, we achieved this by adding a 'health bar' image border around every shot it shows, we also made sure that the shots of the characters were all in a dark enviroment to give off the effect that person shown is a villain as dark colours always have negative connotations. By us showing small clips of the video game and clips of the character being sucked into the video game it means that our target audience will see this and then want to watch the film because video games should be one of their
main interests.

We chose the music so that it fit our genre well. I constructed a survey that asked questions about how people expected the music to sound and how important it was to the film, this helped us decide what it should sound like such as use more high pitched sounds since this fits with the sci-fi genre and style of our film. I also made it so that the film fits the sci-fi/tech genre by having the location of an arcade, this has bright colours and ther is a lot of tech involved with it. This attracts the audience because the surveys we took on music as well as other meant that we could see what the audience expect and cater to their expectations so the film attracts them well.
The costume that we used was for the villain was very dark as black has negative connotations then we made it so that when Ben was in the arcade there was a lot of bright colours since this contrasts the low key lighting of being in the video game and also the costume of, the villain, Lance. We also made is so that each character had a prop specifed to them and their personality so we gave a lance a cane as he is older than the others and is also evil. Then we also gave Roger glasses and a Gameboy to give off a 'nerdy' feel to the character. I feel that this attracted our audiences as it meant that you could understand what type of person each character was through their props/costume and since our audience are teenagers then it makes it easy for them to understand.
Also we edited our film in such a way so that everything had meaning, for example when the parts were shown of the film that were in the game, the film had a posterize effect to make it look more cartoonized. Also when Ben is being sucked into the game the screen spins into the next scene which is in the game to give the effect he is being sucked in. The titles of the text were also editied so they looked more 3D, were slightly darker and also flashed to represent how the game was dark and dangerous compared to where he was before. By doing this we created the effect that the characters were inside the game and then our target audience would hopefully be looking for effects like this and they would watch our film because they like the idea of the character being sucked into the game and also the effects that created this.
Finally we attracted our audience by creating moodboards and
storyboards, this means that they can see rough sketches, ideas and
descriptions of what the film is going to be like and if they like what they
see they will go to see the film. The ideas we have showed through the
moodboard and storyboard should give them an idea on the general
concept of the film and if audiences see this and like it then they will be
attracted to go and view our film.
